Student Computing Center Rules
- NO food or drinks, other than water in spill-proof containers, are allowed in the SCC! Only water in
spill-proof containers will be permitted. Violators will be removed. No exceptions.
- The rest of the Library:
We now offer two "food/drink friendly" locations to our patrons.
The following are the "food/drink friendly" locations:
1. The wireless laptop area in the basement area of the Info Dome - the circular space immediately adjacent to the stairwells and the elevators.
2. The large study lounge on the east side of the third floor between the stacks of Government Publications' materials.
- Priority use is for class work.
- Monopolizing workstations for recreation (games, chatting, web surfing and viewing pornography)
is not permitted.
- During peak times, recreational users must relinquish workstations to those who need them for
academic purposes. If we are mistaken as to your computer use, please explain the nature of your course work to
us.
- The SCC is not responsible for unsaved work, nor misprints. It is the student's responsibly to:
- Save all work to their own disk. Save frequently while working.
- Use print preview features BEFORE printing.
- Print the correct documents from the print queues. Always look for a workstation number and
YOUR document title.
- Please keep noise to a minimum.
- Cell phones must be turned off, or to vibrate mode, while in the SCC.
- All cell phone conversations must be held outside.
- No software or hardware may be installed, nor reconfigured, on ANY machine.
- No downloading of files, or execution of downloaded programs, is permitted. San Diego State University shall not be held responsible for any information, or programs, obtained from the Internet.
-
At all times be sensitive to the public nature of shared workstations and
refrain from:
- Displaying messages, images or sounds that could create an atmosphere of
discomfort or harassment for those around you.
- Transmitting messages containing "obscene, offensive or discriminatory
material to another individual, mailing list, news groups or a public area".
-
Damaging or removing equipment.
Violation of these rules, or the Student Responsibilities for
Academic Computer Use, may result in the loss of your right to use the Student Computing Center.
Please Note: All activity in this Computing Center is monitored.
